Background

13 Six has gone through some changes as in band members and it ws for the good of the band, as the band is now made up entirely of US Military Veterans. Marty and Craig are Vietnam era vets; Jay is retired Air Force and a Desert Storm/Iraqi Freedom vet, while Jack served 6 years as a Navy Seal and we really can't talk about what he did. Marty and Craig have been perrforming as professionals for over 35 years, Jay has 13 on the drums, and Jack has 7 years experience as a lead vocalist and front man.

13 Six also has a new manager, Mr. William Rowen, and we are looking forward to seeing good things with and from Mr. Rowen. Together, 13 Six is a force to be reckoned with.

Craig Whitaker

Craig started playing bass guitar in 1968; it was a short 2 years before he turned professional. In addition to his formal training in music at the U of M (Maine), Mr. Whitaker studied under his mentor & master spiritual teacher Al Delgado; a true Shaman. Craig’s bass style is as solid as it gets; with roots in jazz, he redefines the foundation of Rock & Roll. Craig has played in a variety of bands over the years and is considered a master at what he does. Musicians who have played with Craig will tell you it was an “adventure” & an “honor” to jam with him. When your peers respect you, it’s the ultimate compliment. Like Marty, Craig is a Vietnam Veteran and a proud American.

Craig has traversed the country with his unique style of music. With roots in Lewiston, MN., Craig would seem to be out of place in the heat of this southern Texas town. However, watch the crowds reaction to his animated, high energy stage presence and you'd think he was a local born hero. Few bass players have his ability to steal the limelight from his fellow guitarist, and he delights the audience every time he appears on stage. Not afraid to experiment with his music, Mr. Whitaker formed a unique group composed of 2 bassist's & a drummer. Known as "BassStation", this trio stretched the boundaries of modern music beyond the word "improvised". On stage, this formally trained, highly spiritual gentleman, has earned his nickname "Crazy Legs Craig". With Jazz & Latin influences, this sometimes percussionist is an asset to the band & the world of music.

Jack Bivens

The band's newest member, Jack hails from Matador, Texas.  Singing for seven years, Jack had formed his own band, "Code 3", which was comprised of all firefighters, and playing as many as 64 shows in a year. The band had a small bit of success with one of his original numbers, "Where the Pieces Fall", being signed to a publishing deal with Pearson Television after the song was picked up by director Francis Ford Coppola to air on his Emmy award nominated series "First Wave" on the Sci-Fi channel.

After Code 3, Jack was asked to front a popular local band, the "Groove Lords" which went through a transformation and was renamed "Spartacus Jones".  Jack continued to play with them until 2002 when he moved to San Antonio to attend flight school.

Jack brings a considerable amount of stage time and a diferent vocal groove to 13six.  He is honored that 13six is allowing him to share with such a talented group of guys. Jack say's "Marty's lyrics come from his heart and are based on a warrior's emotional and physical loss: "It recharges my soul to contribute to this effort!"

Jay Hilliard

The band's newest drummer, Jay hails from Salina, KS and has been playing drums for more than thirteen years. Jay retired after 22 years in the Air Force in October 2004. He brings a level of experience that only comes from playing all over the world, from Japan to Cypress, in cover bands(Big Zoot, Smokin 'ERB), to an original venture (Better Abraham) and a country act (Cooperhead). Jay likes to think of himself as someone who plays from the heart, and we ar proud to have his experience and personality as someone to keep the train from running off the tracks. Jay is a true pro.

Marty Robinson

Marty Robinson

Marty has been honing his musical talents since 1965. With a sound forged from tempered steel, this man’s high energy guitar licks cut through you like a knife. As the front man for a variety of bands over the years, Mr. Robinson is the epitome of Rock & Roll. A member of The Blackfoot Tribe and a Vietnam Veteran, you could not find a truer American. While his powerful lyrics may sometimes criticize, they are nonetheless, a heartfelt expression of his love for this great land. With influences stemming from Rock, Blues, and Jazz he creates a musical alloy that never ceases to entertain. From hard Rock to gentle Ballads, Marty Robinson has it all.

The band's leader, Marty Robinson, has performed before hundred's of thousands of fans throughout his long industrious career. As a member of the 70's Rock band "Minus Franc", Mr. Robinson toured extensively throughout Europe and has opened in The States for such well known bands as Blue Oyster Cult. Marty feels it in his gut that 13six is the band that will provide him the recognition he so rightly deserves. Originally from Hartford CT, this Native American's writing style is based on personal experience, and his ability to create a memorable "Hook" will leave you wanting more. As the band's vocalist, who better to put real feeling into these emotionally packed lyrics? A proud Vietnam Veteran, he feels it's important to expose the truth about war, and not allow the lies to dictate the future. As these songs reveal, Warriors suffer to protect our freedom. It is important that the cause for War is just.
